1 What size Liquid Shredder ® surfboard do I need? There are so many Liquid Shredder ® board lengths to choose from.
Matching rider weight, skill level and wave size are very important. A board which is too small won't float you and one which is too large will not turn easily. First, we provide a rider weight chart which helps match your size to a board. If you have no experience in a similar sport like Skateboarding or Snowboarding then add 20 pounds to your real weight and buy the corresponding board size. Example: I weigh 120lbs but have never Skateboarded or anything similar. My effective weight is 140lbs so I could buy a 6'4 but because that is the top 6'4 board suggested weight I'd be better off with a 7'5. Also, I live on the US East Coast. The waves are generally small here and a bigger board is easier for the wave to push...so the larger 7'5" board is my best choice. See weight chart Return to Questions
2 Why is a Liquid Shredder ® Soft Surfboard™ my best choice as a beginner?
First, It's a real surfboard but with a softer surface to make it more user friendly. Plus, it looks just like a shiny fiberglass board. Most beginner boards are very poorly shaped. This effects the way they perform in the water, making them hard to turn. Surfing is ALL about maneuvering and turning on the wave. Poorly shaped boards simply won't turn well.
Second, An original Liquid Shredder ® has a full length solid South American hard wood stringer for strength. A surfboard should be rigid and not flex too much. Many of the traditional "sponge" beginner boards flop up and down in the middle as the rider walks on them. This slows the board and makes for an unstable platform for the rider to stand on. Additionally, boards with weak stringers break easily.
Third, Until Liquid Shredder ® entered the market in 1999, beginner boards were very expensive. In fact, they cost as much as custom fiberglass boards with $400-$1000 retail prices. Liquid Shredder ® hit the market from $129 to $369 retail. So now you can get a Liquid Shredder ® beginner board that looks and performs like a custom fiberglass board with the added safety of being soft and priced right.
Fourth, Recently, some formerly respected, old school sponge board makers decided to go cheap. They have gone to China and brought back some low quality products. The board materials come unglued or crack, the shapes are bad and the quality is generally low. This is because the Chinese don't surf. There are almost no waves in China, Japan is in the way. Liquid Shredder ® is made in Peru "Where Surfing Was Invented" by Surfers for Surfers. Peru has some of the best surf and surfers in the world. Even the Beach Boys mention it in their song "Surfin' Safari". That's why every Liquid Shredder ® model is designed, developed and tested on the Coast of Peru in some of the best and largest surf in the World. Return to Questions
3 I already surf. Will a Liquid Shredder ® work for me?
Yes! The shape, rails and rocker of a Liquid Shredder ® are just like glass and foam surfboards. The weight of Liquid Shredder ® is nearly identical to the same length and shape standard board. This is the ONLY soft surfboard that looks just like a real fiberglass board. It has a smooth shiny surface on both the deck and the bottom. Carrying it down the beach or in the water no one can tell you're on a soft board. Check out out the Surf Video of Gabriel the Latin American Champion to see how they perform under extreme use. Liquid Shredder ® ROCKS! See weight chart Return to Questions
4. Can the skin of a Liquid Shredder ® become unglued?
Great question. The skin of a Liquid Shredder ® is not glued so it can't become unglued (delaminate). The Patented manufacturing process shrinks the Aircraft Quality Vinyl skin tightly over the board's closed cell foam blank shape. Plus, it looks just like fiberglass only softer. Return to Questions
5 My friend bought one of those old Brand Name "Sponge" boards, it got real heavy from sucking up water. Does that happen to Liquid Shredder ® by Soft Surfboards®?
The Aircraft Quality Vinyl skin of a Shredder is waterproof and looks just like fiberglass only softer. The fins are sealed by rubber "through hull" fittings to resist leakage. In addition, the closed cell foam inside resists water absorption so, in the remote chance any gets in, you simply drain it out through the provided drain screw. Sponge boards absorb water the entire time you are using them and very little ever comes out of the foam. They gain weight and, as a result, lose their already limited performance. 6 Do I wax my new Liquid Shredder ® surfboard?
Yes! In order to keep yourself from slipping you should use standard surfboard wax. It is available at most surf shops for about a buck ($1.00). Old, dirty wax can be removed easily by placing the board in the sun for a few minutes to warm and melt the wax. Then, you simply wipe it away with a few paper towels. You can also purchase the Official Anti-Skid Deck Kit on the "Accessories" page. The deck kit only covers part of the board so you still use wax. Waxing See details Return to Questions

9 I've been to Surf Camp and am getting pretty good at surfing, what can I do to improve my Liquid Shredder's ® performance on the waves?
First, consider adding one of our Pro Fins to the center position of your Liquid Shredder ®. This will help you make tighter and faster turns. Keep in mind a Pro Fin is sharper and not as safe as a standard fin. Second, if you really get good at surfing, replace all three standard fins with Pro Fins. 10 Sometimes I can see a little air under the vinyl of my Shredder's deck. Is this Normal?
Yes, since the Aircraft Vinyl skin of your Liquid Shredder ® is not laminated or glued to the foam board blank, the air in it can expand a little. You can vent out this hot expanded air by following the steps on this venting instructions link. This helps keep it light and long lasting. Because the skin is not laminated it cannot delaminate and fall apart like many of the old technology Sponge type boards. Plus, it looks just like a fiberglass board only softer.See Details Return to Questions
11 What is that rectangular decal looking thing on the deck in the pictures of the Liquid Shredder's ®
That is our Free Bonus Surfing Poster that comes with your new Liquid Shredder ®. It is just taped to the deck and you remove it and can put it on your wall. Put it on the wall of your bed room. It is really cool. Return to Questions
12 I want to take the best care of my board. What should I do?
You can protect your Liquid Shredder ® during transport by getting a Custom Logo Padded Travel Bag. Another great option is a Nose Guard, it helps protect the end of the board from damage. Return to Questions
